It was a fantastic day!

I wasn’t too sure about my birthday. It arrived and I was so tired. I had spent the night tossing and turning and having nightmares. I would just get my head calmed from the previous dream and the next one would intrude upon my sleep. At about four am I gave up and turned the tv on. I watched ‘I love lucy’ re-runs and she wasn’t even making me laugh. I played on my computer— Facebook, twitter, email, the news….anything to bore me to death and cause sleep. Some where around 9 am, my eyes eased closed and finally some rest. At eleven, my brother called and rest was over. He interrupted for about ten minutes and I decided it was time for coffee and cold pizza. Breakfast of champions….right? LOL!

I refused to spend the day alone. This was supposed to be a celebration of my birth. The continuity of my life. I wiped the snow off my car and went to lunch.

My cousin’s restaurant in a little over two miles away. Homemade. Warm fire and family was sitting at a table. My brother and his girls helped me devour a fresh hamburger and homemade french fries. One of our really good friends came in and he drank coffee and the bs started to get deep. I laughed so hard my cheeks hurt. The conversation routed to my greenhouse, and my friend, Bob, said he would build this one. And no tree in sight would take it down. (He’s a man of his word. And I know it will be built solid) We located supplies that we all had lying around and made a list of where everything is. (IN our heads) I came home, and Bob promised to stop by and see where I wanted this one.

When he arrived, he made fun of the last one. I patted him on the back for putting a curse on my other one. All his prayers had come to fruition and my old greenhouse is under a pine tree. As the snow has melted, it’s gotten flatter and flatter. The only thing standing is the wall with the door in it.

Bob has three sky lights and I have tin the same color as my roof. We decided to lay the roof steeper than my house so the light will come in and my mom has window’s stored at my grandpa’s garage. We have lumber down the hill by the equipment(my job) and, that should be my greenhouse. The cost will be low and the construction will be firm. And he said it would cost very little per hour since he only has to drive a few miles. Bless him!!!! And he will make raised beds for me and I won’t have to bend over very far. That was a fabulous birthday gift.

I warmed the fire inside, watched some tv, patted max on the head and it wasn’t very long before my birthday dinner. Off to my cousin’s restaurant again.

I spoiled myself with steak and prawns, baked potato with yummy sour cream and butter and a HUGE green salad. Pure heaven. She makes a tomato basil sauce for those prawn’s that is out of this world. It was a large meal….and I am not ashamed to say….”I ate the whole thing!” We laughed, we drank coffee, we ate dinner, we laughed a whole lot more. Bob was there, my brother and his girls, my bestest friend and her beau, and mom and dad. We revisited this day forty some year’s ago and where mom and dad were. We laughed some more. Awww….memories. We devoured the chocolate fudge cake after I blew out the fire on top….LOLOLOL!

I loved my birthday. Only one thing was missing. My son. He forgot to call!!
