When I was in the fourth grade, our library was in the same room. It had this giant sliding divider that was used to split the classroom up when we needed our privacy for classes. A new librarian was hired that year and he promoted reading like gum balls. Reading was yummy and to be chewed and enjoyed. And that was the year I embraced a good hundred books. Small historical books. Books on Booker T. Washington, Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln and so many others. I remember sitting on the carpet in that library, and holding a book to my chest and making a wish. I wished to have my name on the front of a book…..a book that I had written.
Last year I brought that dream alive!!! I published my first book……and my name is on the cover. The other day the paperback proof showed up and I started to cry. The little girl still inside me was dancing all over the place. I had accomplished my little girl dream. And tonight, when I checked to see if I had any more reviews, I got to see my status among, what has to be millions of books, and in the divorce section, I am number 77. I don’t know what it will be when you wake in the morning….but, by golly, right now…..I am in the top 100 of divorce. I hate that the topic is divorce, but, I won’t look a gift horse in the mouth.
I don’t know if I can sleep now. This really raised the blood pressure. I even emailed my mom with a copy of it, I was so excited. hahahahaha.
Maybe a cold shower.
